In the General tab of Script Editor's preferences, turn on the Show Script menu in menu bar option. This script can be installed and run in a variety of ways: From the Script Menu (Recommended)Įnable the Script menu from the Script Editor app, found in /Applications/Utilities. This script requires Administrator privileges to run. Instead of clicking and guessing, it's easier to just run this script and be done with it.
It does not accurately report whether the Guest account is enabled in part or full.
The Users & Groups System Preferences pane is buggy in macOS 10.10 and 10.11 (and probably other versions). This script will disable the macOS 'Guest' user account, including login and file sharing privileges.
